Your Councillors
Parish Councillors are elected to represent their local community. St. Agnes Parish Council is one of Cornwall’s larger and more active parish councils, serving the communities of St. Agnes, Porthtowan, Mount Hawke, Mithian and Blackwater. The parish is divided into five Wards to reflect these distinct communities, with 16 Council seats in total: seven for St. Agnes, four for Mount Hawke, two each for Porthtowan and Blackwater, and one for Mithian.
Parish Councillors are normally elected every four years to represent their Ward and the wider parish. Vacancies between elections may be filled via by-election or co-option.
All Parish Councillors, whether elected or co-opted, must follow the Council’s Code of Conduct and complete a Register of Interests form. This records relevant financial and other interests and supports openness, transparency and public confidence in local decision-making.

I have lived in St Agnes since 1989. With extensive leadership and governance experience across local government, health, housing and social care, I became a Parish Councillor to represent local people fairly, give something back to the community and support open, collaborative decision-making.

Raised in a single-parent household, I understand the pressures facing working-class families and am committed to making sure their voices are heard. I work in agroforestry, where I have helped plant 235,000 trees across Cornwall. With a background spanning design, marketing, hospitality and bespoke furniture-making, I bring practical experience, creativity and adaptability to my role as Mount Hawke Parish Councillor. I am focused on strengthening our community, challenging hate and bigotry, and helping to build a safer, kinder and more united parish.

I have lived in Porthtowan for 23 years with my husband & family. Since retiring from teaching, I want to be able to give something back to my community. I have 3 cocker spaniels; one is a registered therapy dog and we attend Portreath Primary School each week to listen to children read. I can often be seen walking my dogs along the beach.

My name is Allen Biggs. I moved to Cornwall in 1973; first to Wheal Rose, and then to Skinners Bottom where my wife and I had a smallholding where we have raised pigs, chickens and cattle. We also ran a milk round in the local area for many years. I have two daughters and seven grandchildren, who have all attended schools in the St. Agnes parish.
