Each year, St Agnes Parish Council is pleased to invite the community to take part in its Certificates of Recognition initiative — an opportunity to come together and acknowledge, celebrate and thank those people who make an exceptional contribution to support community life.
Across the parish, there are many individuals who quietly and generously give their time, skills, energy, kindness and commitment for the benefit of others. Some offer long-standing voluntary service, some support neighbours and local groups behind the scenes, and others step forward in ways that make a real and lasting difference. The Certificates of Recognition are a way of publicly saying thank you to those who go above and beyond for the good of our community.
Young people can also be recognised through this initiative. Age is no barrier to making a positive contribution to the community, and the Council is keen to celebrate the efforts of children and young people who show kindness, commitment, service and community spirit. Typically, young people are identified for recognition through the Council’s Outreach Coordinator, who works closely with local schools. However, young people may also be nominated through the standard application process, particularly where their contribution takes place outside the school environment.
The Certificates are presented each year at the Annual Parish Meeting. Held between 1st March and 1st June, this meeting is an important occasion in the parish calendar and provides a fitting opportunity not only to reflect on local issues, but also to recognise local people whose community spirit help our parish to thrive.
The Annual Parish Meeting is held at a venue within one of the parish’s five wards (Blackwater, Mithian, Mount Hawke, Porthtowan, St. Agnes) and, where venue availability allows, the Council aims to alternate the location over time so that different parts of the parish have the opportunity to host this important community event.
Information about each year’s nomination process, including deadlines and how to put someone forward for a Certificate of Recognition, will be published here ahead of the Annual Parish Meeting. When submitting a nomination, please ensure you have the nominee’s permission to share their personal details on the application form. This is particularly important where the nominee is under 18.
