Good news for households across Cornwall – from the 16th of March, Cornwall Council has begun collecting cartons (such as Tetra Pak) and plastic bags and wrapping as part of the usual fortnightly recycling collections.
This means you can now recycle items like milk, juice, custard, soup and tomato cartons, along with bread bags, cereal bags, crisp packets, chocolate wrappers, cling film, bubble wrap and other soft plastic packaging.
How to recycle them:
Cartons: simply rinse, squash and place them in your red recycling bag.
Plastic bags and wrapping: put them inside a carrier or bread bag, tie it at the top, and place the tied bag in your red recycling bag if there’s space.
If your red bag is full, you can place the tied bag on top of your black box or tuck it securely between your recycling bags so it doesn’t blow away.
This small change means we can recycle even more from home and keep valuable materials out of landfill – thank you for helping make Cornwall a little greener.
