St. Agnes Parish Council is continuing its efforts to obtain clear and detailed information from South West Water about sewage pollution, planned infrastructure improvements and the capacity of the wastewater network serving the parish.
The Council recently declared a vote of no confidence in South West Water and supported the Dowr Glan campaign’s call for Government intervention. It has also submitted two formal requests for information under the Environmental Information Regulations.
Local spills and planned improvements
The first request asked South West Water to provide:
- data about sewage spills within the parish;
- details of planned improvement works; and
- information about the capacity of the local wastewater network.
South West Water confirmed that improvement work is planned at several local pumping stations between 2025 and 2030.
Capacity for proposed housing developments
The Council’s second request relates specifically to two proposed housing developments in St. Agnes village.
South West Water has stated that the wastewater network has sufficient capacity to accommodate the developments. The Parish Council has therefore asked to see the reports, modelling and other technical evidence on which that conclusion is based.
The Council is currently awaiting South West Water’s response.
This information will help councillors better understand the pressures on the local network and make informed comments when considering current and future planning applications.
