Vacancy: Administration & Finance Assistant, with Planning Support

Pay: NALC Salary Scale Points LC1 (13 – 17) (£29,064 – £31,022 FTE) depending on skills and experience (pro rata)

St. Agnes Parish Council is seeking a highly organised, helpful team-player to support our day-to-day administration, and to provide practical support to the Planning Committee. You’ll be the friendly face on our public counter, keep our records accurate and compliant, help process payments, and assist with agendas and planning enquiries. What you’ll do
• Staff the public counter (Mon–Fri mornings), handle calls and emails, and manage routine office tasks.
• Maintain GDPR-compliant paper/electronic records and assist with FOI/SARs; manage ordering and supplier accounts, best-value checks, and office systems (keys, waste/recycling).
• Support the Council’s financial procedures e.g., process invoices, bank income, send remittances and support monthly reconciliations.
• Support the Planning Committee: help compile agendas and handle some planning communications/enquiries.
• Undertake required training to build capability and ensure compliance with Council procedures.
Hours & flexibility
• 30 hours per week: including, daily public counter cover (9:00am–12 noon); ability to cover colleagues’ leave when required.
Pay & benefits
Annual leave entitlement is 23 days (pro rata) plus two extra statutory days. The Council is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (Cornwall Pension Fund – employer contribution currently 19.6%) and all its employees are entitled to join. The position is permanent and has annual pay increases between LC1 13 – 17.
