Improved internet connectivity brings safety and service benefits to Trevaunance Cove and Porthtowan

Your Parish Council has installed internet connectivity at the public toilet facilities at Trevaunance Cove and Porthtowan, improving the reliability and safety of services at two busy coastal locations.
Both sites have long experienced poor mobile phone coverage. This has made it more difficult for Council systems to communicate reliably and has affected services that depend on a stable data connection.

Improved safety and faster fault reporting

The new connections allow monitoring systems within the public toilets to communicate more reliably. This means faults can be identified more quickly and the Council can respond sooner when something goes wrong.
The improved connectivity also supports the emergency assistance features installed within the facilities, helping ensure that communication is available when users need help.

More reliable contactless payments

A dependable connection is also important for contactless payment. Better connectivity reduces the risk of interruptions caused by weak signal and helps keep the facilities accessible throughout the year.

Wider benefits

The investment provides a stronger digital foundation for managing Council facilities at Trevaunance Cove and Porthtowan. It creates opportunities for improved asset monitoring, future smart technology and more efficient maintenance.
At Porthtowan, the new connection is already having a wider benefit. Cornwall Council has tested the signal and confirmed that it is suitable to support the introduction of the discounted JustPark Wallet service at Beach Road car park.
The upgrade forms part of the Parish Council’s continuing work to keep public facilities safe, reliable and fit for the future.
