Local groups, schools, charities and community organisations may be eligible to apply for support through the Forest for Cornwall Small Projects & Community Fund.
The fund can support small tree planting projects and related community activity, helping local groups plant and establish trees, hedgerows, orchards and community green spaces.
Grants of up to £4,000 are available per application, including:
- up to £2,500 for trees and tree-related materials, such as trees, hedgerows, tree shelters, cages and mulch;
- up to £1,500 for non-tree items directly linked to tree establishment and community involvement, such as training, events, interpretation boards, watering equipment and tools.
Eligible applicants can include community groups, community orchards, local environmental groups, parish and town councils, schools, charities, education and sports groups, and some individuals such as smallholders for small projects.
Projects must be properly planned, and applicants may need landowner permission, a project map, a draft planting scheme, supplier information and supporting evidence. Funding is paid in arrears after works have been completed and evidence has been provided.
The fund cannot support general site improvements, staff costs, consultants, construction, labour, private gardens, or maintenance and surgery for established trees.
Applicants will also need to show how they will care for any trees planted. The agreement includes looking after trees for at least three years while they become established.
