St. Agnes Parish Council currently has three Councillor vacancies in the Mount Hawke, Porthtowan and Blackwater Wards.
You may not have thought about becoming a Councillor before — but if you care about your local area, enjoy listening to people, or have ever found yourself saying “someone should do something about that”, this could be a great opportunity to find out more.
Parish Councillors help represent their communities, ask questions, consider local issues, and make decisions about services, facilities and projects across the parish. You do not need to be an expert in local government, planning, finance, or policy. A mix of backgrounds, ages, experiences, and viewpoints is what helps a council reflect the community it serves.
Councillors are supported by the Clerk and a team of staff and have access to guidance and training, so nobody is expected to know everything on day one. What matters most is an interest in the parish, a willingness to listen, and the time to get involved.
This is a voluntary role, but it can be a really rewarding way to contribute to the place where you live, work or have local connections.
